The GIAN 1 large diamond has been greatly improved compared to the previous small diamond pattern. A widened drainage groove now accelerates the removal of rainwater. This drainage process is enhanced when the concrete walking surface is stepped on. The rolling motion of the shoe presses the water into the groove. Therefore, the GIAN 1 large diamond effectively counters aquaplaning in two ways. Another innovation of the GIAN 1 large pattern is the enlargement of the diamond. The new dimensions are 35 x 14 mm. Aquaplaning
While walking, a special form of aquaplaning can occur. Motorists are familiar with this phenomenon. When they drive on a wet highway, a thin layer of water can form between the road surface and the tires. As a result, the car momentarily loses contact with the asphalt and becomes uncontrollable for a short period. Something similar happens when someone walks on, for instance, a wet slippery surface. The thin layer of water between the shoe sole and the flat surface causes an extremely low friction resistance, resulting in a high likelihood of slipping. Aquaplaning on stairs, walkways, balconies, and other walking surfaces can be effectively prevented. The first step in this process is to ensure that water under the shoe sole drains away quickly. Hence, nearly all GIAN structures incorporate small channels into the concrete, allowing the shoe sole to expel water. The second step in the process to provide concrete with optimal anti-slip properties involves combining it with a micro-textured structure. For instance, by employing a GIAN texture mat that imprints a sandblasted texture onto the concrete. The sandblasted texture prevents aquaplaning from even forming. Advice: |
